Getting Started
Let me tell you a little bit about Oova first. Oova created a home-testing platform that lets women monitor their hormone levels in real time without any blood draws, using machine learning and image processing to provide personalized hormonal insights from a simple urine test.
I was nervous to work on a product where I wasn’t even remotely the target audience, but I’ve always wanted to work in the health industry and the team is passionate about improving women’s health.
Understanding the Users
My first task is always to dive deep into what users need. I collaborate closely with the data and engineering teams and go through our Facebook groups and comments on social media. I’m always interested in designing an experience that makes complex hormone data easy to understand and if possible, also beautiful to look at.
Designing the Solution
Working with the engineering and data science teams, I focus on designing an app experience that feels both useful and intuitive. This process involves creating separate user journeys, wireframes, and prototypes for both the mobile app and clinician dashboard.
Making an Impact
It’s satisfying to be part of a company that has an impact on the lives of women. The updates we roll out lead to higher user engagement and user satisfaction.
